In order to study and work, many people need to rent an apartment.
Base on present related website and my renting experience, I designed a website with three highlights: Agent Service, Co-renting option, and Apartment Comparison.
From start to finish. Includes user research, wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and usability testing.
Figma, Google Form, Concepts app, Keynote, Numbers, Pages.
4 weeks
There were 6 participants completed survey. 100% participants have experience searching online by themselves. And 66% participants need to move every year.
Finding an apartment is overwhelming and takes lots of time and money. For young people without much social experience, a reliable way to find an apartment can reduce fraud and ensure safety.
Base on the research, I created two kinds of persona: students and commuters.
From the perspective of the personas, I created a map of their journey. The goal of this map is for a user to find an apartment and find co-renting with student from the same college.
Below is the site map I drew to see the design layout of my Apartment Finder website.
Volunteers
12 people
Goal
Determine if users can complete core tasks within the high-fidelity prototype. And find out the top problems we need to solve.
What I learned from the research
Usability testing is a great way to gather unexpectedly good ideas to help me improve the user experience on the Apartment Finder website.
During this test, I realized that giving testers a clear and simple task would be more efficient in getting a user direct feedback.
Next, I will analyze the user feedback and filter out the most important insights, to refining the design.
A practical topic can sheer me to think deeply and explore more to improve user experience. And it is so meaningful! And I enjoy the work of a User Designer, keep an open mind, and receive unexpected feedback from users.
